Integrating Waterlily with Salesforce allows you to connect client information and related activity between the two platforms.
Once a Salesforce Contact is linked to a Waterlily client, the client’s long-term care predictions can be added to the Contact record as a Salesforce Note. This allows you to conveniently review the client’s Waterlily results without leaving Salesforce.
The following setup steps require Salesforce Administrator access. If you do not have the necessary permissions, please ask your Salesforce Admin to complete the setup on your behalf.
Before You Begin
Please confirm that:
You have an active Waterlily account.
You have access to your organization’s Salesforce account.
The person completing the setup has Salesforce Admin privileges.
Enhanced Notes is enabled in Salesforce.
The Notes related list is added to the Salesforce Contact page layout, when supported by your Salesforce edition.
Step 1: Enable Enhanced Notes in Salesforce
Enhanced Notes must be enabled so Waterlily can add a linked client’s long-term care predictions to their Salesforce Contact record.
To enable Enhanced Notes:
Sign in to Salesforce using an Admin account.
Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner.
Select Setup.
For Salesforce Starter, click the gear icon and select Open Advanced Setup.
In the Quick Find box, enter Notes Settings.
Select Notes Settings from the search results.
Check the box next to Enable Notes.
Click Save.
Why Enhanced Notes Is Required
Waterlily uses Salesforce Enhanced Notes to display a linked client’s long-term care predictions within their Contact record.
Without Enhanced Notes enabled, Salesforce may reject requests from Waterlily to create these notes and return the following error:
The requested resource does not exist
Enabling this setting allows Waterlily to successfully create and store the client’s prediction details in Salesforce.
Without enabling the notes, you will not be able to link your clients from Waterlily to Salesforce. For context, here's what it will look like:
Step 2: Add the Notes Related List to the Contact Page
Once Enhanced Notes is enabled, add the Notes related list to the Contact page. This allows users to view the client’s Waterlily long-term care predictions directly from their Salesforce Contact record.
To add the Notes related list:
From Salesforce Setup, open Object Manager.
Select Contact.
Select Page Layouts.
Open Contact Layout.
In the layout palette at the top of the page, select Related Lists.
Locate the Notes tile.
Drag the Notes tile into the Related Lists section of the Contact layout.
Click Save.
If Salesforce asks you to overwrite existing user customizations, review the message and accept the prompt to continue.
Salesforce Starter Limitation
The Notes related list can be added successfully in Salesforce Developer Edition and most standard Salesforce editions.
However, Salesforce Starter uses a fixed Lightning record page that may ignore changes made to the Contact page layout. As a result, Waterlily may successfully create and store the client’s long-term care predictions as a note, but the Notes section may not appear on the Contact record page.
This is a Salesforce Starter display limitation and does not necessarily mean that the Waterlily integration failed or that the note was not created.
Step 3: Complete the Waterlily Integration
After Enhanced Notes has been enabled and the Contact page layout has been updated, return to Waterlily and continue the Salesforce connection process.
Follow the prompts within your Waterlily account to authorize Salesforce and complete the integration.
Once the integration is complete, link the applicable Salesforce Contact to their Waterlily client profile. The client’s long-term care predictions can then be added to their Salesforce Contact record as a note.
Troubleshooting
The integration reports that “The requested resource does not exist”
Confirm that Enhanced Notes is enabled under Salesforce Notes Settings.
Notes are created but do not appear on the Contact page
Confirm that the Notes related list has been added to the Contact page layout.
For Salesforce Starter accounts, the note may exist in Salesforce even when it is not visible on the fixed Lightning Contact page.
I cannot access Notes Settings or Page Layouts
These settings require Salesforce Admin privileges. Please contact your Salesforce Administrator and ask them to complete the configuration.
